The Balik Kabayan Bazaar made its grand launch together with the formal signing of the Marketing Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between BDO Unibank and the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW), along with another bank. The event is a big step toward providing support and economic prospects for Filipino workers abroad and their families.
Balik Kabayan Bazaar: A Celebration of Filipino Culture and Commerce
The Balik Kabayan Bazaar is a new initiative designed to bridge the gap between the Philippines and its overseas workforce, creating a platform for OFWs to reconnect with their roots, culture, and businesses back home. The bazaar featured local vendors showcasing authentic Filipino products—from traditional crafts and culinary delights to innovative goods that highlight the rich culture and creativity of the Philippines.
The MOA Signing: A Strategic Partnership for Empowerment
In conjunction with the bazaar, the ceremonial signing of the Marketing Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between BDO Unibank and the Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) was a highlight of the day. This MOA represents a strategic collaboration aimed at enhancing the financial and marketing support available to OFWs and their enterprises.
Venecio Legaspi, DMW Assistant Secretary for Reintegration
At alam po natin yun kahit noong nagkaroon ng consultation way back December 2022. " said Venecio Legaspi, DMW Assistant Secretary for Reintegration.
BDO, a renowned bank in the Philippines, has always supported OFWs and their families. The MOA with the DMW strengthens this commitment by offering financial services and resources to OFW entrepreneurs.
Rene Abadadilla, BDO Unibank SAVP & Head, Overseas Filipino Programs |
Looking Ahead: A Future of Growth and Support
The Balik Kabayan Bazaar and the MOA represent a forward-looking approach to integrating and supporting the Filipino OFWs.
The contributions that overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) have made to the Philippine economy and society are immeasurable, given their continued significance in the global workforce. The BDO-DMW collaboration and the Balik Kabayan Bazaar are positive steps toward a future in which every Filipino residing overseas will have their needs and goals acknowledged and supported.
The future is bright for the Balik Kabayan community and the larger Filipino diaspora with these encouraging developments, opening the door for increased economic integration, cultural celebration, and mutual support.
