Ayala Foundation organizes first Magiting ‘Virtual Run and Bike’ event

Do you miss participating in fun runs? Are you thinking of fitness options that take into consideration social distancing guidelines? Or are you looking to incorporate a good cause into your fitness routine?

To commemorate its 60th year, Ayala Foundation invites seasoned and beginner runners, fitness enthusiasts, and development advocates to the first Magiting “Virtual Run and Bike” event, where participants can run, trek, and bike at their own pace, at their own time, and in locations that they themselves choose.

Scheduled on April 1 to May 15, 2021, the virtual running and biking event has the following categories:

• Running or Trekking (20 km, 60 km, 100 km, and 200 km)

• Biking (60 km, 100 km, 200 km, and 500 km)

The Magiting Virtual Run and Bike encourages participants to set a timeline for their training based on the event schedule. Since this is a virtual event, the Magiting Virtual Run and Bike does not expect participants to cover the distance they signed up for in one go. Instead, participants can run or ride (or even walk or trek) a few kilometers each day over the course of a month and a half, until they complete their target distance.

Registration fee is PhP1,500. Those who complete the virtual run and bike event will receive the following: a Magiting Medal, a finisher shirt, a face mask, and e-certificate. Delivery of items in the Philippines is covered the registration fee.

Funds raised from the Magiting Virtual Run and Bike will help provide learning and hygiene kits for public elementary school students nationwide, as part of the Ayala group’s Brigada ng Ayala program. As the social development arm of the Ayala group of companies, Ayala Foundation leads the implementation of Brigada ng Ayala, which is Ayala Foundation’s response to the Department of

Education’s Brigada Eskwela and Oplan Balik Eskwela initiatives. To date, Brigada ng Ayala has provided over 21,000 learning and hygiene kits for students in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.

The Magiting Run and Bike event takes its name after Ayala Foundation’s Maging Magiting program, which promotes love of country by highlighting the importance of our national symbols and honoring the virtues that are uniquely Filipino. The Maging Magiting program also recognizes the capacity of ordinary Filipinos to be heroes in their own extraordinary ways.

For 60 years, Ayala Foundation has been serving communities all over the country through programs that promote education, sustainable livelihood, and love of country.

The Magiting Run and Bike event serves as an expression of Ayala Foundation’s continued faith in the Filipino.
