Senior Citizens of San Jose del Monte City entertained their fellows, family, friends, as well as mall goers during their recent gathering in SM City San Jose del Monte.
More than 650 members of the city’s senior citizens community came to the event dubbed as “Paskong Walang Kupas” highlighted by a Christmas caroling competition. Ten groups with eight to ten members each actively performed different classic Christmas songs such as “Oh Holy Night” and “Pasko Nanaman.”

It is truly a friendly competition, but all participants were in a full package and dressed up in colorful costumes. Some groups brought their own instruments like organ, electric and acoustic guitars, others were even supported by their own choral conductors.
Ms. Jhaonalyn Gatdula, the new Assistant Mall Manager of SM City San Jose del Monte was amazed by how the senior citizens in the city are very active and harmoniously socializing with each other. “Christmas is truly for everyone. I enjoyed the nostalgic feeling brought by the classic Christmas songs sung by our senior citizens, and the happiness on their faces while singing were very contagious” she said.
A simple yet notable all-men group, ‘Harmony Hills’ serenade the audience with their calm, deep voice during the “Paskong Walang Kupas” senior citizen’s gathering at SM City San Jose del Monte.
Even though last to perform, the ‘Yakal Senior Citizens’ recognized as the winner. Wearing a simple yet choir-like costume, the group had the most harmonious performance. The seniors of ‘Narra Evergreen’ placed second, and seniors from ‘Poblacion 1’ placed third.
Moreover, the all men group ‘Harmony Hills’ was also notable because of their serenade style-like performance. Wearing the modest yellow shirts, they got the audience’s attention with their deep and calm voice together with their guitars, as if they are just having an after-work gathering.
The ‘Senior’s Day at the Mall’ in SM City San Jose del Monte is a quarterly event to show love and appreciation to the senior members of the community and also to encourage them to stay active and healthy.
It is definitely beginning to look a lot like Christmas as SM Supermalls in San Jose del Monte, Marilao, Baliwag and Pulilan really began the countdown with gift-giving activity through Bears of Joy project, Mr. and Mrs. Santa meet and greet, and the grand launch of newest Christmas jingle “SM Mallidays.”
