In partnership with Guhit Pinas Bulacan Chapter, SM City Marilao, SM City Baliwag as well as SM Center Pulilan recently launched a denim workshop for aspiring artists and designers with the #DENIMversityatSM.
This year’s participants brought an array of thought- provoking work that both explore creative techniques and global issues we face today. Pulling inspiration from art, students used repurpose denim and reinvent them with designs that address global, social concerns while weaving in bits of contemporary, pop culture flair.
“It was heartening to see fresh minds using denim design as a platform to address environmental and social issues” shares SM City Marilao Mall Manager Emmanuel Gatmaitan.
Students had freedom expressing their concepts in their designs and experience the magic of customizing their own denim pieces.
Concepts with strong purpose and strong emphasis around sustainability stood out and took precedence across workshops in SM City Marilao, SM City Baliwag and SM Center Pulilan. Design pulls inspiration from wildlife preservation, women rights to pop art culture and many more.
“Technique and creativity are limitless on this generation of aspiring artist. With their artworks, we reimagine denim as a unique avenue towards self-expression” says SM City Baliwag Assistant Mall Manager Rodora Tolentino.
#DENIMversityatSM is one of the many programs of SM Supermalls to celebrate individuality while giving exciting retail experience. It also hopes to inspire next generation of fashion stylists, designers in the province.
