SM Malls in Baliwag and Pulilan spearheaded the largest gathering of more than 300 elderly for this year’s kickoff event for senior citizens dubbed as “Fab & Fit at 60”.
With its vision to promote wellness and entertainment among Senior Citizens, SM Malls in Baliwag and Pulilan conducted dance and exercise performances participated by different barangays in the said municipalities. The event is a breakthrough as it showcased elderly’s timeless talent in dance exercises. Proving they still have the groove, may it be to the tune of old or new music.
At SM City Baliwag, there were 5 contenders who battled for the dance competition. These consists of Seniors Citizens from Barangay San Roque, Tarcan, Catulinan, Makinabang and Presidents from the Federation of Senior Citizens Association of the Philippines (FESCAP). In the end, senior citizens from Barangay San Roque were hailed as the winners. The group captivated the audience with their lively dance exercise to the tune of “Material Girl”.
SM Center Pulilan likewise conducted the biggest Zumba tutorial for seniors participated by 160 Senior Citizens coming from seven Barangays in the municipality. Of the seven groups, three Barangays were hailed as the winners: Barangay Dampol B at 1st place, Barangay Balatong A – 2nd place and Barangay Longos – 3rd place. Aside from Zumba performances, selected Senior Citizens also shared their talents in singing and poem recitation for the audience’s delight.
“Fab and Fit at 60” Seniors Day at the Mall is one of the many SM design programs that aims to promote wellness among elderly by encouraging them do engage in activities that will enhance their health and wellness through physical activities such as dance trainings and exercises. It also serves as a good avenue for seniors to perform and be recognized for their fadeless talents.
Senior’s Day at the Mall is a program under SM Cares, a division of SM Foundation for Elderly Care— the corporate social responsibility arm of SM Group of Companies, that aims to honor and nurture senior citizens in every community where SM serves.
