Stephen Curry Shows How He Is “Wired Different” With The All-New Curry 5 – Available Now
Basketball was wired the same for decades – a game predicated on size and brute strength, played within 24 feet of the rim, where jab steps were secondary to elbow jabs, where athleticism ruled all…until Stephen Curry finally cracked the code. Stephen, fresh off his 3rdNBA Finals win in 4 years, is “Wired Different” from his predecessors. A challenger who has hacked handles, hacked range and in the opinion of some – even ruined the game.
In order to continue breaking the game and shattering the status quo, Stephen has created a new operating system that’s “Wired Different” for the modern game.
Introducing the Curry 5. Light, low and built for optimum speed and agility. The full knit construction with molded cushioning and a unique lockdown lacing system brings total precision to the shoe’s 360 degree fit and feel. And an unbelievable grip traction system, built for all courts, provides quick-stop traction, enabling Stephen to make cuts on a dime, no matter what the surface. The ultimate upgrade is here…and it’s Wired Different.
“Version 5 was the result of a long study of all the previous iterations,” said Stephen Curry when asked about the development of the Under Armour Curry 5. “We dug deep and worked hard to make this the ultimate upgrade. This one goes out to all the challengers – the people ‘ruining the game’. We hack the old school and we change everything.”
Key components of the Curry 5 design include:
· EVA cushioning midsole delivers underfoot responsiveness
· The Curry 5 locks in Stephen’s heel with Anafoam and has a super light upper that doesn’t weigh him down
· New lacing system and stretchable upper allows for ease of entry
· The midsole delivers lightweight underfoot responsiveness
· The speed plate and flex zones in the midsole and outsole help Stephen stay light
· Containment areas in the forefoot lateral wall and the heel lock in the foot, enabling Stephen to play his game on his toes
· Weight: 11.8 oz.
The Under Armour Curry 5 is priced at PHP7,995 and is available at selected Under Armour Brand Houses as well as online at underarmour.com.ph.
Game On, Southeast Asia: The Ultimate 3-On-3 Basketball Tournament Makes Its Return (11 August 2018)
Building on its success from last year, UA 3X3 came back to offer young passionate ballers the chance to compete while testing their team’s skills, teamwork, and their will to own the court. This year, the competition began in Malaysia, followed by Thailand, Singapore and Indonesia. The last leg held in the Philippines happened last August 11 at the Xavier School Gym in San Juan, accommodating 68 teams which competed for the top spots in both under-18 girls and boys division.
Two-time NCAA Champion of the San Beda University Red Lions and UA ambassador Robert Bolick was present in the event to join a 3-point shoot out exhibition held during a quick afternoon break. “Play as a team, go hard and play your best,” was what Bolick said when asked for a quick tip he could give the players.
In the boys division, Dragon Den triumphed against 56 other teams. The team consisted of students from the Traill International School namely Kobe Francisco, John Peters, Cian Villaflor and Gershom Montes. Hijas Pilipinas’ roster of Caila Galamiton, Princess Fabruada, Karl Ann Pingol and Angel Surada, coming from the National University and Chiang Kai Shek College, bested 10 other competitors in the girls division. Each winning team received Php 35,000 Under Armour voucher and will represent the country in the regional final competition to be held at the Mall of Asia Arena in September 7.
“We are delighted to continue our partnership with FIBA and take the Under Armour 3x3 Southeast Asia Tournament to the next level,” said Michael Binger, CEO of Triple Pte Ltd, exclusive distributor of Under Armour in Southeast Asia.
